Colposcopy
Colposcopy is a way for your doctor to look at your cervix through a special magnifying device called a colposcope. In the event that your Pap test shows abnormal results, colposcopy may be performed to gather more information about the abnormal cervical cells and a biopsy may even be collected. Colposcopy may also be used to further assess other problems such as genital warts on the cervix, cervicitis (an inflamed cervix), non-cancerous growths such as polyps, pain and bleeding. |
