Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy allows your doctor to see the inside of your uterus using a thin, lighted telescope-like device that is inserted through your vagina into your uterus. The hysteroscope transmits an image of your uterus onto a computer screen, thereby allowing your doctor to see the inside of your uterine cavity. Hysteroscopy is typically done to find the cause of abnormal uterine bleeding, but may also be used to diagnose the cause of repeated miscarriage, to locate an intrauterine device (IUD), to remove adhesions that may occur because of infection or from a past surgery, or to perform permanent sterilization.
